SAMMY. Where do I even begin? Growing up, shopping in the “men’s section” felt limited and I found myself wearing clothes that just didn’t feel right. I watched my sister and mom shopping and saw styles in their area that I loved but was too afraid to approach. When I was 15, I came out as gay and started crossing that barrier. I found my favorite skinny jeans and short shorts in the women’s section and discovered niche shops marketed towards gay men. It still all felt very separate. When I was 18, I enrolled in fashion school. As a young queer fashion student at Parsons in New York, I was surrounded by a standard of beautiful that made the fashion world feel toxic. Since when was fashion about how your body looks or what gender you are? Fashion is a means of expressing yourself, whoever that may be, and living in your truest form. Period! I wanted to build a “perfect” closet, a space where people felt they could reach for something that made them feel confident and that they could trust was top notch quality.

THE SAMMY FAMILY

SAMMY is the result of an ecosystem of people who have all put their energy into the brand. From the seamstress who sews the garment to the customer who wears it- every individual who comes into contact with the brand is a part of it. Clark's design style is purposefully minimal. The simple nature of the clothing give a universal appeal to the pieces. Beyond these beautifully simple garments, Clark is an advocate for acceptance and support of equality and fairness to humans of all genders and all sexual orientations. "I created Sammy out of my love for the way clothes make me feel. I had a hard time finding clothes that made me feel good in my skin so I designed pieces that make me feel comfortable and confident when I put them on. It gives me joy to then see other people light up when they put the pieces on, how soft they feel and how strong they look in their skin. SAMMY is an entity, an energy without gender or judgment. Live your life, and feel chic while doing it! I know you’ll love these pieces as I do."
